We started with two bred females in 1998. Our herd of 18 Huacayas includes bred and maiden females, and young males representing some of the best bloodlines in the nation.

We love the varied colors our herd offers and are proud of our strong Peruvian lines. We plan to keep our herd small in order to reap the rewards of hands-on care.

We raise alpacas first and foremost for the love of the animals. We continue to be delighted by the gentle, intelligent, curious alpaca. Caring for our herd and enjoying the outdoors serves as a welcome addition to our life-long careers as restauranteur and nurse.

We enjoy showing our animals in halter, obstacle and fleece classes. We always learn something, and have a good time while we're at it. Alpacas are generally not highly groomed for showing, as dogs are. So, if a white or other light colored animal has been rolling on the ground (we are in central Virginia "clay country") that can lead to some double-takes. At one show, a judge joked about the "rare apricot color" of one our animals - who is officially white!

Did you know...

Alpacas come in variations of 22 natural colors - more than any other fiber livestock!
